Thursday 6 June 2024 Y5/6 Boys' Cricket Tournament We took 18 boys from Buzzard and Seal classes to a cricket competition in Stroud on 6 June. One of the teams managed to come 3rd overall, and the other 2 teams won a few games and had some very close matches. Their behaviour was exemplary throughout and the boys were all a credit to the school!

Tuesday 4 June 2024 Orchestra in an Afternoon We took 5 children to the annual "Orchestra in an Afternoon" event at King's School on 4 June where they joined with lots of other children for an afternoon of music. They learnt 3 different pieces of music and the day culminated in a performance to parents. Well done to Emilia, Rosalie, Francis, Annabelle and Olive for their excellent behaviour and being a credit to The Croft!

Wednesday 22 May 2024 Croft's Got Talent 2024 At the end of last term, children took to the stage to show us their amazing talents. Following on from the in-class auditions, each house chose an act to go forward to the final. We were treated to singing, dancing, acting, joke-telling, gymnastics and much more. We were so proud of all of the children who got up and performed! Well done to: Beau. W who achieved 3rd place for singing "Quiet" from Matilda; Iris A-C who achieved 2nd place for dancing incredibly to "What's My Name" from Descendants; and to Hannah J, Rosalie S and Imogen W who achieved 1st place for choreographing a very entertaining parody song and dance act. Congratulations to Blue Jays who achieved the most points and won the House Talent Cup this year.

Thursday 16 May 2024 Y3/4 Boys' Football Tournament On 16 May, we took a team of Y3/4 boys to a football tournament at Oxstalls. The boys played brilliantly again some tough opposition and were able to win a few games. Well done team!

Wednesday 15 May 2024 Y4 Girls' Football Tournament We took a team of Year 4 girls to a football tournament at Oxstalls Park on 15 May. The girls played brilliantly against some tough opposition from much larger schools. They demonstrated resilience and fantastic teamwork, managing to win some games and saving lots of goals. Well done team!

Thursday 18 April 2024 Frozen the Musical We took a very excited group of 30 children from Key Stage 2 to watch 'Frozen the Musical' in London's West End. They had a fantastic time and really enjoyed this amazing show! They also enjoyed watching the street performers in Covent Garden whilst eating lunch, as well as some sightseeing (from the coach) of some famous London landmarks on the journey home.

Wednesday 17 April 2024 Y5/6 Girls' Football Tournament Well done to our team of Year 5 and 6 girls who took part in a football tournament against other local schools. They played brilliantly together and demonstrated great teamwork!

Friday 22 March 2024 Easter Art Competition We were invited to take part in the Easter art competition at Richmond Village. The theme was to create a picture which was all about Easter and what it means to us. KS1 created some very artistic Easter pictures using a sketch tool on the iPads. The children also made a collection of pretty Easter bunnies using sponge painting and some very colourful Easter chick collages. The artwork was displayed alongside other artists' work in an exhibition at Richmond Village over the Easter holiday for everyone to see. The residents judged the competition and we had 3 winners from The Croft who were invited to a special afternoon tea and prize-giving ceremony. Congratulations to: Joe W and Rupert BA (Mole class) and Willow H (Fox class).

Thursday 7 March 2024 World Book Day 2024 We had lots of fun celebrating World Book Day this week. The costumes and cosy attire were impressive! Well done to the winners from each class - great work!

Monday 4 March 2024 Men in Sheds - Playground Project We are delighted that Men in Sheds have completed our playground project! We now have an amazing outdoor shelter for lunchtimes, lockable storage for all our play equipment, and two mud kitchens for messy play. We are so grateful to MiS for their time and energy building these for us - and thank you to all the parents who donated to the fund to say 'Thank You'!

Wednesday 7 February 2024 School Council The School Council met with the Parish Council and discussed lots of important items, such as re-painting the Pavillion, and how we can encourage good behaviour from dogs and their owners!

Friday 2 February 2024 Gymnastics Competition On 2 February, we took a group of KS2 children to the annual gymnastics competition. They all performed brilliantly and had a great time! More pictures in the gallery.

Monday 18 December 2023 Come & Sing Carols We were invited to take our competition choir to the church rooms to sing carols for members of the local community. They had a lovely time and really enjoyed the experience!

Thursday 14 December 2023 Visit to Kingsholm Stadium Sixty children from KS2 were very lucky to spend the day with Gloucster Rugby Club at their Kingsholm Stadium last week. They spent the day playing tag rugby games against children from other local schools. They had a great time and enjoyed meeting some of the club players at the end of the session!

Friday 8 December 2023 County Finals - Runners Up! Well done to our Y5/6 team who, having fought their way through the qualifying rounds earlier in the term, got through to the County Finals of the 2023-24 ESFA Pokemon Primary Schools Cup. The team played extremely well and qualified for the final, only losing 1-0 to Wick at the last minute. We are very proud of them all!

Wednesday 22 November 2023 KS2 Football Festival On 22 November we took 3 teams from Key Stage 2 to a Stroud schools football festival at Oldends Lane. The children enjoyed the morning, playing enthusiastically and with great competitive spirit. Well done everyone!

Friday 27 October 2023 KS2 Tag Rugby Festival On Friday 27 October we took 21 children to a tag rugby morning in Stonehouse. We played a few different games that taught us key skills before moving into full matches. Everyone really enjoyed the morning! really enjoyed their morning!

Wednesday 25 October 2023 Girls' Football Tournament On Wednesday 25 October we took 3 teams of girls from Years 3 to 6 to an inter-school football tournament at Stonehouse. The first half of the morning was spent practising skills such as dribbling, ball control and passing. We then played some mini matches against other local schools. The girls played extremely well against some tough teams and came away with a couple of wins! Everyone had a fantastic time - despite the very muddy conditions!

Friday 13 October 2023 Hello Yellow Day As part of this year's charity fundraising, we spent the day on Friday 13 October taking part in a host of "yellow" activities in support of Young Minds' Hello Yellow Day. We raised an amazing £180 - thank you for your support!

Friday 6 October 2023 Gloucester Small Schools' Football Tournament Huge congratulations to our boys' team who played in the GSS football tournament on 5 October and were victorious! They will move forward to the next stage against other small schools from across Gloucestershire. Well done team!

Thursday 21 September 2023 Y5/6 Inter-Schools Football Tournament A team of boys from Year 5 and 6 took part in the inter-schools football tournament on 21 September. They played really well against some tough teams and came second, earning them a place in the final - well done boys!

Friday 8 September 2023 Visit from Siobhan Baillie MP On Friday 8 September, we welcomed our local MP, Siobhan Baillie, to The Croft. She spent the morning with Mrs Gore and Mr Duncan (Chair of Governors) talking about the challenges faced by schools with the reduction in school funding. She also had a tour of the school, including our lovely new library!
