Six Year 5 and 6 pupils represented the school in a Quicksticks Hockey tournament at Kings School today (Friday 6th March 2020). Most of these children had never played hockey before and they did a fantastic job! They worked really hard throughout the day, supported each other and showed great sportsmanship towards other schools. I was very proud of our team and they managed to win 2 and draw 2 out of 6 games. We all really enjoyed ourselves, well done to them all and thank you very much to the parents who supported us with transport.
8 children from Year 2 took part in a Benchball Tournament at Dinglewell Infant School. The team managed to win 3 out of 4 games and more importantly, the children thoroughly enjoyed representing the school. Thank you Mrs Locke for taking the team and to the parents for driving!
On Monday the 27th of January Year 4 from the Croft School participated in a football tournament at Rednock School. This was Year 4’s first ever tournament in 2020. We first played Sharpness then Minchinhampton Acadamy then Cam Hopton and finally Sapperton.

Six children competed in a football tournament at Bentham Arena, with George scoring 4 goals! The team worked their socks off and were unlucky not to win more than 1 of their games!
The children worked in their houses: Redwings, Yellowhammers, Greenfinches and Bluejays to complete four sporting Christmas-themed challenges. We were competing against the other teams and marks were given for sportsmanship, as well as winning the task.

On the Thursday 17th October 2019 there was a netball match against Grange primary school including (Martha, Lanna and Lyra from Y5 and Faye, Connie, Scarlett, Erin and Tori from Y6). We drew 3-3 and are goals were by Lanna, Lyra and Tori. For others it was their first match. ‘When we first got to the netball court, we thought we were going to lose’ said Tori. ‘They were very tall so it was hard to block your player’ said Faye. ‘BRILLANT FIRST GAME’ said Mrs Bent `We had a really fun time’ we all said.

A team of 8 children from Y5/6 travelled to Oxstalls for a football tournament. The team won their group which resulted in The Croft playing against Longney in the semi final. The two teams played out a nail-biting draw, with The Croft eventually winning the knockout game on penalties. The team then lost to Birdlip in the final but did themselves and the school proud. A special mention goes to Oli for his efforts in goal during the penalties!
On Tuesday 1st of October the Netball team (Consisting of: Lannah and Martha in Y5 and Tori, Harriet, Erin, Georgie, Connie and Faye who are in Y6) went to the High school for girls, which is also known as Denmark Road school, for our first Tournament of the year. Whilst playing there they triumphantly won their first game for The Croft Primary school 2 - 0 against Calton School. We tragically lost against Coney hill by 6 - 0. We also played against Linden School and Moat. We enjoyed our time at the tournament more than we thought we would because it was cancelled the first time it was planned. We were informed that the weather was thunder and lightning but at some parts of the day it drizzled. The result of this was slippery floor which made it harder to run due to accidents (such as Faye falling over in the first 2 seconds during the first match.)
