Our curriculum

The Curriculum at the Croft Primary (April 2020 onwards)

Our curriculum is currently under construction.

We are building our curriculum from three drivers.

The Head: knowledge as defined in the National Curriculum.

The Heart: compassion and responsibility to our school, our locality, our nation and the world.

The Hand: skills that help us to become better learners and communicators.

We want our curriculum to ignite curiosity, inspire a love of learning and build knowledge and skills for all our pupils.  Our children will explore global themes through an enquiry-based curriculum.  Their inquiries will lead to a product.  This product will showcase their learning skills and nurture a sense of pride.  English will be a thread that knits our curriculum together.  Every class will develop their enquiries around high quality texts.  Wider reading will enrich their enquires.  Writing will communicate what we want to say to our school, our locality, our nation and the world.

The Curriculum at the Croft Primary (until July 2020)

At The Croft our children have opportunities to learn in different ways, through an exciting, varied and creative curriculum based around skills and many enrichments events. We follow the National Curriculum 2014.

Our curriculum promotes the spiritual, moral, social, cultural, physical and mental development of our children. It enables them to develop, practise and demonstrate the skills and attitudes to make a positive contribution to life in modern Britain.

In each class and year group the teachers have planned learning based on different topics. Wherever possible all subject, including Maths, English and Science will be linked together. This makes learning more purposeful and fun.

Our curriculum planning overviews outline curriculum coverage in each subject, class or year group. For more details please look at the termly topic webs located on the individual class pages of this website.
