The Croft School Virtual Tour

Our school is based at the heart of the thriving village community of Painswick, ‘the Queen of the Cotswolds’. We currently have 139 children, who are taught in single year groups every morning and taught in six classes in the afternoons.

Our classrooms are bright and airy, creating a safe, nurturing environment where our pupils are keen to learn. We have recently invested in new technology and now have class sets of iPads and kindle fire tablets as well as an interactive whiteboard in every classroom. We are fortunate to have extensive grounds including two playgrounds - our Infant Playground has had some fantastic new equipment fitted over the Summer, and the Junior playground has had a new trim trail installed. We also have a forest school area with a wooden lodge, a large field, sports pitches, outdoor seating and a superb vegetable patch all set in a stunning location with far-reaching views across the Stroud Valleys.

We fully believe that a happy pupil is a pupil that will be happy to learn, and this means giving children the chance to develop in all areas. We have a good academic record but we also offer other experiences, from music and drama to sport and art. There are many opportunities for pupils to share their ideas and opinions - through questionnaires and being part of the school council; we also aim to use links with the local community to give children a wider experiences in addition to our enquiry curriculum, and we are increasingly tapping into local expertise to develop business enterprise.

We promote and encourage polite and courteous behaviour and respect for fellow pupils, staff and visitors, all of which leads to a strong sense of pride in our school.

“Pupils make good progress to reach above average standards in English and mathematics by the end of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.”
